Pro-science groups urge HFEA to back hybrid embryo research in final appeal12.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 5th Sep 2007 Pro-science groups who back hybrid embryo research today made a final call for the HFEA to support the research when submitting a paper to the HFEA members before their meeting this afternoon. The paper, prepared by Dr Evan Harris MP, who has co-ordinated the campaign to support the research, analyses the HFEA consultation and recent select committee reports and concludes that there is no basis for the HFEA to oppose the research. Dr Harris said, "The HFEA has done a thorough job of the consultation, but it is now time to allow this research to go forward."
